Jim Beyer has been in the computer field for more than 10 years. He began in the Marine Corps, where he was a PC repair technician. He then moved to programming COBOL / CICS financial systems at the Marine Corps Central Design and Programming Activity. After the Marine Corps, Jim went to work for Kemper Financial, where he worked with DATACOM / IDEAL for the mainframe and began GUI design and programming with EASEL on the PC. Jim then went to American Century, where he continued training in GUI design, completing the "Designing Effective GUI Interfaces" course from Human Factors, International. Jim was instrumental in implementing and maintaining several key business systems created using EASEL, REXX and Basic (HLLAPI). During the last 3 1/2 years at American Century, Jim spearheaded the Electronic Commerce initiative with his design for Online Account Access, the Daily Fund Prices pages and the Order by Mail process. All 3 of which connect internal systems to the website, enabling shareholders to access realtime information on the Web. The Online Account Access system set the industry standard for secure connections to mutual fund systems online. Jim was also a contributing member of the development and maintenance of American Century's Intranet. Jim is proficient in HTML, PHP/MySQL, Cold Fusion (CFML), C, Java, Javascript, REXX, Basic, and COBOL / CICS. He has worked with many operating systems including MVS & MRO, OS/2, Win3.1, Win95/NT, UNIX(AIX, Linux) and is familiar with SNA, TCP/IP and NetBIOS. Skills include self-starting, quick learner, thorough, detail oriented, great team player, and excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills. Well versed in written and verbal communications, conference room and large presentations, project management, systems troubleshooting, code debugging, preparing and working from design specifications.
